quiet calm beside the sea

“…There is little more to distract me than the cry of seagulls and the turning of the tide. Sitting on the verandah, looking out at the horizon, I have a sense of completeness and calm, of everything being just as it should be…”

Those words, from my autobiography, More Than Just Coincidence,  describe the wonderful sense of quiet calm I experience in the small wooden beach hut where I spend long summer days writing my crime novels.

My beach site tenancy agreement does not allow me to rent out my own beach hut but should you also desire some quiet calm beside the sea during your break at Flat One, I will be happy to direct you to some links to beach huts which are available for rent in summer.

For more information about my crime novels in The Whitstable Pearl Mystery series, published by award-winning publisher Little Brown Book Group, and now optioned for TV, please visit my website: www.juliewassmer.com and/or see my Author Page on Amazon which lists all my books.

“Pearl took the opposite direction, casting her eye over a colony of beach huts whose brightly painted decks and porches pointed straight out to sea. The huts were laid out in three well defined rows, separated at intervals by paths leading down to the promenade….Many had been personalised, bearing names like ‘Lazy Daze’ or ‘Funky Mermaid’, but all seemed to be unoccupied at this point in time as the Oyster Festival in town proved to be the main attraction. In a week’s time, thought Pearl, the smell of barbecued fish would again be hanging in the air, wine corks popping as hut owners re-positioned themselves to witness Tankerton’s Regatta marking the end of the festival….”
